How am I just now finding out the 675LT has an optional roof scoop?!! Why in the world would you NOT have your limited production (500 Coupes), end of a generation (MP4-12C to 650S), top performance spec of what may be Mclaren’s highest output and final supercar to be released without hybrid tech reach your garage without the roof scoop?!!
You can’t get a Spyder with a roof scoop, right? So you create a limited version of your limited production version of a vehicle McLaren will never make again with a throwback to the brands most important model...is this not THE 911R of McLarens? These owners are about to make a million on these cars before the decade is over.

Because it does nothing at all on the 675LT? The F1's scoop fed the engine. This one uhh. Not even sure what it does but it doesn’t feed the engine.

It probably changes the experience though, and it’s the driving experience that is causing all these brand new cars to appreciate so rapidly. Plus it sets it further apart from the other 675LT, and when you can make a special car even more special with a feature that links it to the F1 and P1 while being something you can’t get on a Ferrari or Porsche then you have a winner in my book.

On the McLaren forums, they’re saying it does indeed channel cooling air into the engine bay, and it enhances the intake sound.

Would it also blow your mind to know that car is owned by someone who reads and posts on Oppo?

It does function though.

As much as I hate Salamondrin, he had a video of the one he just got, There were clearly carbon fiber piping into the engine bay, he said it made cool noises.

The owner of that car is actually on OPPO, seems like a really cool guy. The shots of the roof scoop from the inside are so frigging cool.
He posted some cool pictures in a thread I made a few months back
